Extensive Travel. Celestial Imagery. Soaring Vistas.
Each journey takes us to a new and perhaps unexpected destination, be it a short one or a long and arduous one. These photographs represent my journeys. Each journey has imprinted itself on me, and make me who I am today. Travel with me and explore the world around us and experience the joy of the journey.
The Infinite Horizon
Making a photograph of the night sky or a sprawling vista requires a different kind of patience. It is not the patience of the here and right now, but rather, one measured by the slow rotation of the earth and the light of distant suns. Whether I am tracking the vibrant emission lines of a deep-sky project like the Dragons of Ara or witnessing the soft glow of a crescent moon over the high desert, these photographs represent a journey through both space and time. These journeys are a celebration of the vast vistas that remind us of our place in a much larger story.
While many of these journeys begin in the out of the way corners of New Mexico and the Southwest, they often reach far beyond our atmosphere. You will find the intricate details of narrowband imaging where I’ve blended Hydrogen-alpha, Sulphur-II and Oxygen-III data to reveal the hidden structures of the cosmos, alongside quiet moments of earthly wonder found in the San Juan Mountains or the Utah badlands. Each piece is an invitation to look upward and outward, finding beauty in the vastness.
It is my hope that these scenes help you bring the beauty of the journey home, offering a window into the celestial heavens, soaring vistas and quiet moments that define our world and beyond.
