Sunrise Peek

Sunrise Peek celebrates the sun breaking through heavy clouds and finding a way to light the desert. It was, in effect, a double sunrise, and this one is full of vibrant pink and purple tones.

Story

The desert held its breath as the night gave way to pre-dawn. The muted sounds of the night faded away, leaving only silence and the anticipation of sunrise. Today, though, the clouds lay heavy, and surely the sun had no way through. Old Sol would rise unheralded, surely, with nary a sunrise peek.

As expected, dawn came and went, with little to mark its arrival and departure. The clouds were thick, and the day, once full of anticipation, lay heavy. I continued my vigil, because you never know what will happen. Although, the rest of the world moved on with its daily, if muted, business.

Then, the most unexpected thing happened. As the sun rose, it found its way through the clouds and sky filled with vibrant pinks and even a few shades of purple. Now, the sun had a second sunrise, this one through the clouds!

Fiery and bright, the sun’s rays broke through and flooded the desert with its warmth in Utah’s Upper Blue Hills region. Sunrise Peek celebrates the sun’s triumph over the night and the clouds, and gave me a delightful double sunrise.
