Storm Highway

Ah, the feel of the wind swirling around us as we cruise down the open highway. The smell of the fresh air is everywhere. We have not a care in the world. Just us, the open road, and the empty highway. Oh, and, well, there is that thunderstorm up ahead. Perhaps we should pay attention to that. We are on Storm Highway, after all.

New Mexico has a wide and diverse landscape. From deserts to mountains, you don’t have to go far to encounter something different. What makes the state special, though, is the low population. Once you’re in the country, you are by yourself, and the road is yours alone.

Such is the case of this highway, which is technically in Alamito but, in practical terms, is in between Roy and Wagon Mound. Regardless, it’s an empty highway, except for the supercell, which we are driving right into. Up ahead of us there is rain, hail, high winds, and a summer thunderstorm waiting for us.

But that is up ahead on Storm Highway. Meanwhile, the road is ours, and we continue driving without a care in the world. There is nothing quite like the open road in New Mexico!
